Interactive Tour

EstimateQuest includes role-specific interactive tours powered by driver.js that walk users through the interface. Tours trigger automatically on first use and can be replayed via the Help button.

Tours trigger automatically in two contexts:

  • Session page — the first time you join a session as moderator, voter, or spectator
  • Create page — the first time you reach the QUESTS step during session creation

Each tour highlights UI elements in sequence with explanatory tooltips. After completing a tour once, it won’t trigger automatically again.

Click the Help button (question mark icon) at any time to replay the tour. This is useful if you:

  • Dismissed the tour too quickly
  • Want a refresher after some time away
  • Are showing EstimateQuest to a new team member

The tour adapts to your role, showing only the controls and features relevant to you.

  1. Welcome — “Welcome, Guild Master!” introduction
  2. Copy Link — how to share the session code

Triggers on the create page when you first reach the QUESTS step. Unlike other tours, the creator tour is interactive — it drives the Quest Picker UI with demo content, walking you through a realistic workflow even if you haven’t connected any integrations yet.

The tour injects demo data (sample Jira issues, filter options) and transitions the UI through each feature:

  1. Quest Setup — introduction overlay, then the dropdown opens with demo search results
  2. Search for Quests — highlights the search input with demo results visible below
  3. Switch Source — opens the source provider menu showing Jira, Linear, and Azure DevOps
  4. Filter Results — opens the filter bar with demo project, board, and status filters populated
  5. Manual Quests — highlights the manual entry row (“Add ‘authentication’ as a manual quest”)
  6. Multi-select — activates multi-select mode with checkboxes and demo items checked
  7. Your Quest List — closes the dropdown and highlights the session list area

When the tour ends (completed or dismissed), all demo content is removed and the Quest Picker returns to its normal state.

  • Sound effects are muted while the tour is active to avoid distracting audio
  • Sounds are restored to your previous setting after the tour completes
  • The tour adapts between desktop and mobile layouts — some steps are desktop-only
  • You can dismiss the tour at any time by clicking outside the highlighted area or pressing Escape
  • During the creator tour, the Quest Picker is non-interactive — demo content cannot be accidentally added to your session
